Thursday Thoughts: Happy First Day of Spring!
Today, March 20th, 2014, happens to be the Vernal Equinox, commonly called SPRING in the northern hemisphere! This is when night and day are nearly the same length. It’s when the sun crosses the celestial equator, moving northward. According to scientists, in the southern hemisphere, the vernal equinox corresponds to the center of the sun crossing the celestial equator moving southward. This happens on the date of the northern autumnal equinox. Anyway, the most exciting thing to know about today is…. it marks the first day of the season of spring.
I hope the weather is comfortable wherever you are; I’ve been dealing with very high pollen counts for trees these past few days, and now, weeds are also in the very high category. Grasses are considered to be in the very low category. Average temperature has been a bit on the warm side for me, in the upper 70’s, but it’s been beautiful here in northern California.
